Cricket News sort by India Vs Australia 3rd Test at Mohali - Mar 14-18, 2013

Relentless rain washed out the opening day's play at Mohali without a single ball bowled.

If Australia want to look at the one positive from the unenviable position they currently find themselves in, they can probably conclude that things cannot get any worse for them. As if losing the first two Tests without putting up much of a fight wasn’t enough...

In cricket, as in life, it does not take a lot of time for things to turnaround. Last year, when the Indians were in Australia, they couldn’t do a thing right, and kept going from bad to worse as the series progressed.

In a shocking development, the Australian team management has dropped four players for the 3rd Test at Mohali on disciplinary grounds. Three of those dropped players are proven match winners – Shane Watson, James Pattinson and Mitchell Johnson. The fourth player is Usman Khawaja who was expected to play the Mohali Test in place of the struggling Phil Hughes.

It has been a few days since Australia were battered and bruised by the Indians at Hyderabad. And, a few more days are left before the two teams lock horns again, at Mohali on March 14.

Two down, two to go. MS Dhoni and his men are undoubtedly pleased with how the first two games in the series have gone, while the Australians must be despondent. The fact that they lost the second test by a wider margin than they did the first would be disappointing to Michael Clarke and his men, but they have only themselves to blame.

Match winning opener Virender Sehwag has been surprisingly dropped from the Indian team for the remaining two Tests against the Aussies. India have not named any replacement for Sehwag and have trimmed their squad to 15 players.
